Thirty Second Devotions

Winning Souls Pt 2 (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 27, 2012 18:58

Devotional
If we are to be effective soul winners, then we need to have a deep longing to see people come to Jesus. What do you see when you look at people on the streets. Do you see them as just another face in a crowd, or do you see them as a lost person who needs Jesus?
Scripture Reference
Romans 9:2-3
My heart is filled with bitter sorrow and unending grief for my people, my Jewish brothers and sisters. I would be willing to be forever cursed—cut off from Christ!—if that would save them.
Action Point
Pray that God will give you a burden for those who need Jesus. Ask Him to strengthen you and help you to be a witness for Him.

Winning Souls Pt 1 (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 26, 2012 18:56

Devotional
If you want to be an effective soul winner, you first need to be a committed follower of Jesus Christ. You don't need a college degree or any special training. You just need to have a God given desire to see people come to Jesus. Often times the greatest soul winners are those who have just trusted Jesus as their Lord and Savior and are on fire for God.
Scripture Reference
Luke 22:32
"But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren."
Action Point
Ask yourself where you are in your walk with the Lord. Are you fully committed, or are you just going through the motions. If you are just going through the motions, seek the Lord and ask Him to change your heart.

Reject or Receive (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 25, 2012 18:56

Devotional
The first verse in the Bible sets the tone for all of eternity. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. You can either accept it or reject it. The Word of God is either true in it's entirety, or it is a fabrication by man. If you reject that God created the heavens and the earth, then you reject Jesus.

Scripture Reference
John 1:1-2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

Action Point
The Word of God is true. It is up to people to receive it or reject it. As Christians, we need to study the Word and be able to give a reason for why we believe the Word of God is true.

Save Me (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 24, 2012 19:49

Devotional
The only way to come to Jesus is in Faith. Peter had faith when he stepped out of the boat, and onto the water. The invitation Jesus gave to Peter is the same invitation He gives to all. "Come." Draw near to Him, and receive Him.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 14:29-30
So He said, "Come." And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"

Action Point
Have you put your faith in Jesus? Even though Peter walked towards Jesus, he started to sink when the storms began to rage. It was only when he asked Jesus to save him, that Jesus took Peter by the hand.

The Power of Prayer (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 23, 2012 18:36

Devotional
Never underestimate the power of prayer. When people pray, and when the word of God is proclaimed, earth shaking things will happen. Lives will be changed, and people will be saved. There is no limit to what God can do when we call upon His name.

Scripture Reference
Acts 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Action Point
Before you do anything today, take time to pray for someone. After you have prayed for them, take time to encourage them, and to share the word of God with them. Watch, and see what God will do.

Power To Impact Lives (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 22, 2012 18:30

Devotional
Many times, ministers don't get to see the full impact of their ministry. I often times hear preachers talk about the people who had encouraged them, and the words and wisdom that they gave. The words that were spoken several years ago are still ministering to people today.

Scripture Reference
1st Thessalonians 1:8
For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything.

Action Point
What we say and do today has the power to impact the lives of future generations. Send forth the word of the Lord, that others may hear, and and send it forth.

One Church (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 21, 2012 20:38

Devotional
It seems to me that many main line Christian denominations are separated by their differences. The fact is that we are all God's children. We need to focus instead on what things we do have in common. There is one body which is the church. If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you are part of the church.

Scripture Reference
Ephesians 4:4-6
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Action Point
Focus on the main points. On the day of Pentecost, they all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication. They all came from different backgrounds, yet they came together as one. As the church, we need to join together as one body, with one purpose.

Brothers and Sisters (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 20, 2012 20:31

Devotional
As Christians we are all one body. We are brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus bound by the blood that was shed on Mount Calvary. If you are in Christ Jesus, and He is in you, then you have fellowship with one another through Him. The things that separate us are dissolved by the blood that covers us.

Scripture Reference
1st John 1:7
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Action Point
Spend time this week in fellowship with the Lord and with other believers. Remember, If you are in Christ, you are part of the family.

Spiritual Fitness (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 19, 2012 17:41

Devotional
Let's face it, we all need to exercise. If we don't, most of us will gain weight, and get lazy. I don't mean to sound ugly, but it's the truth. In the same way, if we do not exercise our faith, we start to feel the weight of the world, and we get lazy in our spiritual life.

Scripture Reference
1st Timothy 4:8
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

Action Point
Be strong in the faith. We exercise to keep our bodies healthy, so why wouldn't we exercise to keep our faith healthy? Walk worthy of the high calling. Run with endurance. Fight the good fight. Be strong in the Lord.

Get Going for God (Thirty Second Devotional)

wordinsong | January 18, 2012 19:51

Devotional
Have you ever turned on the television, and said there is nothing good on, only to sit and watch it anyway? Don't get me wrong, there are good shows to watch, but it seems to me that we spend too much time watching worthless shows, and not enough time focusing on God. We need to be spending our time in the Bible, and getting fired up for God.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 119:37
Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things,
And revive me in Your way.

Action Point
Take some time to focus on your relationship with the Father. Read your Bible, spend some time in prayer, or just listen to some good Christian programing on the radio. Let the power of the Holy Spirit get you up and running.
