Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly.

Could you imagine if you found out that your soon to be wife was pregnant, and it wasn't your child. This is what Joseph faced. Under the law Joseph could have had Mary stoned to death. This could have been the end, but praise God that Joseph had mercy on Mary.

God has shown His mercy on us. We were guilty and condemned to death. Praise God we did not get what we deserved.
