Thirty Second Devotions

Forgive Me 3/29/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 29, 2008 20:19

Devotional
Why is it so hard for people to forgive others? We often times hold on to grudges for years till a point that we don't even remember why we are mad at the person. Unforgiveness towards others only hurts the one who is unforgiving. Just as Jesus has forgiven us, we need to forgive others.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:14:15
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. "But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Action Point
It is simple. Forgive others the way Jesus has forgiven you. We are all guilty of sin, and deserving of death. Jesus paid the price for us.

The Proof 3/28/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 28, 2008 19:47

Devotional
For centuries people have claimed that the resurrection of Jesus never took place. We see in scriptures many proofs that it did indeed happen. Thomas doubted and wanted proof, so Jesus said "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing." (John 20:27)  Jesus was also seen by the eleven disciples as well as Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Jesus. If this isn't enough there are all of the Old Testament prophesies that were fulfilled.

Scripture reference
Acts 1:3
to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

Action Point
Do not be unbelieving, but believing. He is risen! The proof is in the scriptures.

A True Friend 3/27/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 27, 2008 19:25

Devotional
I have learned through life that people will let you down. It is said that you find out who your real friends are during tough times. It is easy to be around when things are going good. It takes a true friend to stand beside you. There is one friend who has always been there for me. That friend is Jesus.

Scripture Reference

Deuteronomy 31:6
"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."

Action Point
What a friend we have in Jesus. If you are under the blood of Jesus, then you are His friend. He will not leave you nor forsake you. Who wouldn't want a friend like that. Trust Him today.

Traditions 3/26/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 26, 2008 20:05

Devotional
I remember growing up and learning about traditions. We see them in our homes and in the churches. We do things the same way every time. Don't ask me to change them. It just wouldn't be right. Often times traditions are kept, and the Word of God is set aside.  Why do we do things when the work has already been done? It's about a relationship with the Lord.

Scripture refference
Mark 7:9
He said to them, "All too well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your tradition.

Action Point

Do you have a relationship with the Lord, or are you just going through the motions? Is it religion, or Christianity? Don't let tradition keep you from doing what is right in the sight of the Lord.

Adopted 3/25/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 25, 2008 19:51

Devotional
When I was a teenager I knew a boy that was adopted, and he would be the first to tell you who his mother and father were. There was no doubt in his mind when he looked at them. He was loved and he knew it. He was just as much a part of the family as their other child who was not adopted. We are adopted into the family of God in the same way. We were not born into the family, but are adopted, and our Father loves us.

Scripture Reference
Romans 8:16-17
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.

Action Point

Have you ben adopted into God's family? Are you joint heirs with Christ? Ask him into your heart today. He loves you and is waiting to welcome you with open arms.

From The Mouths Of Babes 3/24/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 24, 2008 19:32

Devotional
Tonight as I sat with my youngest son at McDonald's, I saw what wisdom can come from a child. It is  amazing how they can put things into perspective. They simply tell you like it is. With out even thinking, my son taught me a thing or two. We need to listen to what our children are saying. They are most often more in tune with what God has to say then the adults are.

Scripture
Matthew 21:15-16
But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David!" they were indignant and said to Him, "Do You hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes. Have you never read,   'Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise'?"

Action Point
Our children are the future of the church. We need to encourage them to be open to what God has to say through them. If we do, then we may just learn a thing or two ourselves.

Do What Is Right 3/23/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 23, 2008 19:29

Devotional
Sometimes it is hard to do what is right in the sight of the Lord. The things that are right in the sight of man seem to make more sense. If a man does you wrong, it is easier to lash out and get revenge. We are taught to love our neighbors as ourselves. We are also told to love our enemies. If we do what is right in the sight of the lord then we will prosper.

Scripture Reference

Deuteronomy 6:18
"And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD, that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land of which the LORD swore to your fathers,

Action Point
Proverbs 3:5 says Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; We need to trust in what God says is right, and do it.

He Lives 3/22/08 Devotional

wordinsong | March 22, 2008 20:25

Devotional
He is not here. The one thing that separates us from other religions is the fact that the grave is empty. You can go to the graves of all the men who claimed to be the messiah, and you will find their bones. There is no bones about the truth of Jesus. The tomb is empty just like Jesus had said.

Scripture reference
Mark 16:6
But he said to them, "Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him.

Action Point

He lives; He lives, salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart. Does He live within your heart? Trust in Jesus today. There is no promise of tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation.

3/20/08 Devotional Journey To The Cross....

wordinsong | March 20, 2008 19:50

Scripture
Matthew 27:59-60
When Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and laid it in his new tomb which he had hewn out of the rock; and he rolled a large stone against the door of the tomb, and departed.

Devotional
After Jesus was taken down from the cross, Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb. In front of the bomb there was a large stone that would weigh about 1000 pounds. This stone would be set to roll down hill to seal the tomb. To open the toumb, it would take several strong men. It would be like pushing a 3/4 ton truck up a steep hill. Once the stone was set in place, they had placed a Roman seal to enshure that the tomb would not be opened again.

Action Point
You will not be receiving devotionals for the next few days. We have made the journey to the cross, and Jesus was laid in the tomb. Take some time each day to reflect on the journey. Easter morning the devotionals will start up again with a new format.

3/19/08 Devotional Journey To The Cross...

wordinsong | March 19, 2008 19:39

Scripture
John 9:33-34
But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.

Devotional
This scripture is proof positive that Jesus did die on the cross. They would break the legs of the criminals on the cross to speed up the crucifixion. Jesus was already dead, but to make sure they pierced his side with a spear and the blood and water came out. The scripture Numbers 9:12 was fulfilled. 'They shall leave none of it until morning, nor break one of its bones. According to all the ordinances of the Passover they shall keep it.

Action Point

Jesus died for our sins on the cross. There is no room for left for speculation. The prophesies had been fulfilled. The proof is in the scriptures. Don't wait another day. Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior.
