Thirty Second Devotions

Preach The Word 4/30/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 30, 2008 20:04

Devotional
We as Christians need to be ready at all times and in any place to preach the Word of God. To preach, means to proclaim. No matter where you are, or what you are doing, God can use you in a mighty way. Be open to answer peoples questions.

Scripture Reference
2nd Timothy 4:2
Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Action Point
Get ready to be used by God. All He needs is a willing heart. Remember that God does not use perfect people. He does use willing hearts.

Submit 4/29/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 29, 2008 19:37

Devotional
What does it mean to submit? First let me tell you what it is not. It is not indentured servitude, and it is not something that is forced on someone. Submission is an act of love. Wives are to submit to their husbands as to the Lord. We see in Ephesians 5:25 that the husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her. If a husband loves his wife in this way, then his wife should have no problem submitting to her husband.

Scripture Reference
Ephesians 5:22
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

Action Point
Wives, submit to your husband out of love. Husbands love your wife, as Christ loved the church. Let the Love of the Lord show in your relationship for one another.

Fountain Of Youth 4/28/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 28, 2008 19:42

Devotional
For centuries people have searched for the fountain of youth. For many people, the quest for eternal life still goes on. The simple answer can be found in the Bible. John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Scripture Reference

Luke 18:18
Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, "Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"

Action Point

The answer is simple. Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Come just as you are.

Grace 4/27/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 27, 2008 19:46

Devotional
When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we die to sin. This doesn't mean that we will not sin any more. This also doesn't mean that we should keep on sinning like we did before we were saved. There should be a change in your life. Grace can not abound outside of Jesus Christ.

Scripture Reference
Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Action Point

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Has there been a change in your life? Have you died to sin? Let Jesus live in your heart. Receive Him today.

Live Your Faith 4/25/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 25, 2008 19:53

Devotional
Do we model our faith at home and in our lives? In 2nd Timothy we see the importance of living out our faith. Our children learn from what they see. If we have a strong faith, then they will also. If our faith is week, they will see that as well.

Scripture Reference
2nd Timothy 1:5
when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

Action Point
Be strong in the Lord. Let people see your faith lived out in every thing you do.

From Bad To Good 4/24/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 24, 2008 19:58

Devotional
Have you ever had a bad situation turn out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to you? Joseph was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery by his brothers, and was thrown into prison for something that he didn't do. His brothers meant to do evil, but God used the situation for good. Joseph in the end saved many people from starvation.

Scripture Reference
Genesis 50:20
"But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive.

Action Point
Are you going through trials and tribulations? God has a plan for you. You may not see it right away, but God is working. If you can't trace His hand, trust His heart.

Study The Word 4/23/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 23, 2008 19:31

Devotional
There are many people who are preaching false doctrines. We all have had people say "well this is what I believe!" When it comes to the Bible, there is no room for debate. The word of God is true and complete. You can't take verses out of context to make it fit your beliefs.

Scripture Reference
John 7:18
"He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

Action Point
We need to take and examine every doctrine that is preached, or written. Does it line up with what the Bible says, or is it the doctrine of man? Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Lead Us Not Into Temptation 4/22/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 23, 2008 02:29

Devotional
God cannot tempt us with evil. God, however will sometimes allow us to be tested, and tried. It is Satan, who will often times lead us astray. This petition would be better translated as Lord, don't let me go down the wrong path, but if I do, help deliver me out of the situation.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:13
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

 Action Point
Are you going down the wrong path? Have you made some wrong decisions? God is able to deliver you from the evil one.

Forgive Us 4/21/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 21, 2008 19:00

Devotional
Lord forgive us where we have failed you and help us to forgive others the way you have forgiven us. When you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your sins are forgiven. We need to model God's love in all that we do. We need to forgive the sins of others as God forgave us.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:12
And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

Action Point
Is there someone who you need to forgive? Model the love of Jesus. Forgive them, as God has forgiven us.

Manna From Heaven 4/20/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 20, 2008 20:01

Devotional
When the Israelites were wandering in the desert, God provided manna each day for them to eat. In the same manner, we are to look to God to provide for our daily needs. This should be a reminder that we need God each and every day.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread.

Action Point
Are you trusting in God to provide your daily needs, or are you trusting in people, jobs, and money? All these other things are not guaranteed, but God will always provide what you need. Give us this day our daily bread. Trust that God will provide.
