Thirty Second Devotions

Storms Of Life 04/09/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 09, 2008 05:06

Devotional
Last night as the rain was coming down, and the thunder and lightning was keeping me awake, I thought of how the storms of life do the same thing. We are often times tossed and rattled by the storm. It seems sometimes that the storms are so strong that they will overtake us. It is at these times that we need to look to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Scripture Reference
Mark 4:37
And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.
Action Point
Even when the storms are raging, Jesus can calm the storm. Mark 4:39 says Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Peace, be still!" And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. Let Jesus calm the storms that are raging in your life. Put it in His hands.

Standing In The Gap 04/08/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 08, 2008 05:14

Devotional
Most of us do not have a prayer list like the apostle Paul. We often times pray for family and friends, and our needs. Too many times we go to God with our shopping lists. We need to take time out to give thanks to God for what He has done, and pray for the needs of others.
Scripture Reference
1st Timothy 2:1-2
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Action Point
Take time today to pray for those who are in authority. Pray for churches in your area. Pray for God to provide for those in need. Prayer makes a difference.

Not Perfect 04/07/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 07, 2008 05:13

Devotional
I have a piece of paper that says I am a licenced preacher. That piece of paper means nothing to God. Man does not put people in the ministry. God never used perfect people. David was a murderer and an adulterer. Saul persecuted the church. Peter denied Jesus three times. We are not perfect, but God has called us to share the good news.

Scripture Reference
1st Timothy 1:12-13
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
Action Point
God has called us into the ministry. We don't have to be perfect, we just need to be willing, and obedient.

What Are You Doing 4/4/08 Devotional

wordinsong | April 04, 2008 05:04

Devotional
If you are a Christian, you are a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ. God has saved you for a reason. I remember one lady who was not able to do much, but her ministry was to make coffee every Sunday morning before church. To some it may not sound like a lot, but to others, it meant a warm friendly smile and a cup of coffee was waiting there to greet them.
Scripture Reference
Philippians 3:12
Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.
Action Point
Are you serving the Lord today? God has called us to be ministers. You don't have to have any specil skills, just a willing heart. What ways can you serve God? Press on. Do the work God has called you to do.

Be A Friend 4/3/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 03, 2008 15:11

Devotional

Have you ever sat in the pew at church and wondered where somebody is? Churches are full of people that move from one church to another, searching for Christ. When they don't see it in one church they go to another. We need to be our brother's keeper. We need to come along side of them and show them the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Scripture Reference

Genesis 4:9

Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?"

He said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?"

Action Point

Take time this week to call or visit someone who has not been at church for a while. Show them the Love that Jesus has shown you.

Picture This 04/02/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 03, 2008 15:09

Devotional

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. I wonder what would happen if we tried to put into words what God has done for us. Our words would not do justice. The picture is too beautiful to imagine.

Scripture Reference

Psalm 45:1

My heart is overflowing with a good theme;  I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.

Action Point

Let your life be an open book for others to read. Let people see the joy that is within you. Let the love of Jesus shine through
