Thirty Second Devotions

Stiff Necked 5/31/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 31, 2008 19:35

Devotional
Many people still live like the Israelites in the desert. They were stiff-necked. They heard the Word of God, and they saw what He had done, yet they still lived in disobedience. There is only one way to escape the wrath of God. That way is through faith in Jesus.

Scripture Reference
2nd Chronicles 30:8
"Now do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD; and enter His sanctuary, which He has sanctified forever, and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of His wrath may turn away from you.

Action Point
The saints in the Old Testament and New Testament were all looking at the cross. They were just looking from a different point of view. Jesus is the Passover Lamb in the book of Exodus, the Kinsman Redeemer in the book of Ruth. He is the perfect sacrifice in the book of Hebrews, and the Alpha and Omega in the book of Revelation. Look to the cross of Calvary, and trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Sinners Welcome 5/30/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 30, 2008 19:32

Devotional
I had a co-worker once say to me, that he thought God would not forgive him for the things he had done. Paul tells us, even though he was the chief of sinners, he obtained mercy. Why? So that people would see that you don't have to be perfect to come to Jesus. It doesn't matter where you have been, or what you have done. The moment you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your sins are forgiven.

Scripture Reference
1st Timothy 1:16
However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

Action Point

You don't have to be perfect to receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Come just as you are. No sin is so great that you can't be forgiven. Paul had people killed, and persecuted Jesus, and the church. Let Paul be an example of what God can do for you through the precious blood of Jesus.

Kingdom Leadership 101 5/29/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 29, 2008 18:13

Devotional
Any good leader will tell you that they had someone who helped them along the way. Part of the reason that I am in the ministry is because I had parents who loved the Lord, and led me to Jesus. Jesus shows Peter the true way to become a great kingdom leader. If you are to become a great leader, you must first be a great follower.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 4:19
Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."

Action Point
There is only one way to become a great kingdom leader, and that is by following Jesus. He will show you how to lead. All you have to do is to follow Him. He will make you a fisher of men. Find out how to become a follower of Jesus by going to http://wordinsongmusic.org/newlife.html

Don't Procrastinate 5/28/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 28, 2008 19:36

Devotional
Are you a procrastinator? Do you put things off till the last minute? It seems like there is always an excuse. I would share the gospel, but.... I would tell people about Jesus but.... Friends, the time to share Jesus is now. We are not guaranteed tomorrow.

Scripture Reference
John 4:35
"Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!

Action Point
Don't be afraid to tell people about Jesus. The best testimony that you can give, is your own. Tell people what Jesus has done for you. Make it personal. No one can dispute how you feel, or what you have experienced.

Obedience 5/27/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 27, 2008 19:42

Devotional
As children, we were taught to obey our parents. When my father said to do something, it was not my place to question him. I just did what I was told to do. As a boy, Jesus was obedient to His Father in heaven. In the same way, we need to be obedient to our heavenly Father, when He is speaking to us.

Scripture Reference
Luke 2:49
And He said to them, "Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?"

Action Point
Is your heavenly Father speaking to you today? Be obedient, and trust in His leading. Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. If God is leading, you will not fail. Jesus was about His Fathers business. You need to be too.

Bless The Lord 5/26/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 26, 2008 18:41

Devotional
We need to be reminded daily to praise God in all places, and in all situations. When you are at work, going down the road, or sitting at home. When you are by your self, or in a crowd. Even when you have had a bad day. Bless the Lord. Sing His praises.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 103:22
Bless the LORD, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!

Action Point
We need to be a witness for Jesus no matter where we are, or what we are doing. Let all that you do today give honor and glory to God.

Stop Look Listen 5/25/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 25, 2008 19:49

Devotional
I was sitting here tonight trying to compose this devotional, and as I deleted it for the fourth time, I stopped and listened to what God had to say. We often times want to tell God what our will is. We need to wait on Him to give us the words, and the direction that He has for us.

Scripture Reference
Psalm 27:14
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!

Action Point
Stop, Look, and Listen. When you need direction, Stop and wait on the Lord. Look to Him for guidance. Listen to what God is trying to tell you.

The Cost of Freedom 5/24/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 24, 2008 19:15

Devotional
As Memorial day approaches, we are reminded that freedom is not free. Our service men and women have sacrificed and even given their lives, so that we can be free. Jesus also paid for our freedom from sin. He gave His life on the cross to pay the price for our sin.

Scripture Reference
1st Peter 1:18-19
knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Action Point
Pray for our men and women who are making sacrifices daily to protect our freedom. Remember the sacrifice that God made when He sent His Son to die on the cross for our freedom.

Prayer Request

wordinsong | May 24, 2008 10:12

Please pray for Curt Hennen, who is 83 years old, and in the hospital with unknown healh problems. He has fallen several times, and does not want to go to an assisted living facility. Keep the family in prayer, for God to give them the wisdom and the knowledge in what needs to be done.

Thanks and God bless.
