Devotional
Have you ever gotten so wrapped up in doing something, that you missed the main point of doing it? It is great to study the Bible, to witness, and to go to church, but all this means nothing if you are not saved by grace.
Scripture Reference
2nd Corinthians 8:7
But as you abound in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all diligence, and in your love for us--see that you abound in this grace also.
Action Point
Keep your eyes on Jesus, and the free gift of salvation. We can do everything well, but if we have not received God's grace, we have missed the mark. Abound in His grace, then everything we do will be right on target.

Never underestimate the power of prayer. When we pray, and when the word of God is proclaimed, earth shaking things will happen. Lives will be changed, and people will be saved. It is no secret what God can do.
Scripture Reference
Acts 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Action Point
Before you do anything today, take time to pray for someone. After you have prayed for them, take time to encourage them, and to share the word of God with them. Watch, and see what God will do.

God has the perfect study strategy. When you want to know how to study the Bible, or study for a test, God still has the answer. You start with a subject, and you build on subject one building block at a time.
Scripture Reference
Isaiah 28:10
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little."
Action Point
Take time to study the Word of God. You will not learn it all at once. Start with the basics. When you have leaned the basics, start building on them. Once you start to do that, the possibilities are endless.

We have all had times when we have gotten discouraged. We all grow weary from time to time. God never said that serving Him would be easy. If we do not loose heart, then we will reap the harvest of our labor.
Scripture Reference
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.
Action Point
It is easy to get discouraged, and loose heart. If you stick to it, you will reap the harvest even though it may not be right away. Keep on target, and don't give up.

We don't know much about Jabez. His name is only mentioned in 1st Chronicles 4:9-10. These three things we do know. He was an honorable man, he loved God, and God granted his request. It is not because of what Jabez did, but about what God is able to do for a righteous man.
Scripture Reference
1st Chronicles 4:10
And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested.
Action Point
The prayer of Jabez, needs to be our prayer every day. A prayer for God to bless us, and to enlarge our territory. A prayer of Gods protection, and provision.

What must I do to be saved? Most people have a list of things they think they need to DO. If we try to do all the things on that list, we could never be saved. Why? It is because the work has already been DONE. All we have to do is receive the free gift of salvation.
Scripture Reference
Acts 16:30
And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Action Point
There is no work to do, when the work has already been done. Jesus paid the price for our sin on the cross of Calvary. The only thing that we have to do, is receive the free gift of salvation. No strings attached. No conditions. Come just as you are.

At the moment that you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are baptized with the Holy Spirit. If you are baptized with water, and have not been baptized with the Holy Spirit, you come up as a wet sinner. If you are baptized with the Holy Spirit, then you are saved.
Scripture Reference
Mark 1:8
"I indeed baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
Action Point
Are you a wet sinner, or are you saved? Do you believe that you are a sinner? Do you believe in your heart that Jesus died to pay the debt for your sins? Do you believe that Jesus rose again on the third day? Do you confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior?

An empty grave is there to prove our Savior lives. No other religion can claim this. After Jesus had risen from the grave, He was seen by over 500 people. The Lord even instructed Thomas to touch His side, and feel where the spear had pierced Him.
Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 15:14
And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.
Action Point
Our preaching, and faith are not empty. The only thing that is empty, is the tomb. Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Let's face the facts. We are not perfect. We all make mistakes, and the apostle Paul was no exception. He struggled daily in his walk with the Lord. It was Paul's imperfections that made him such a strong witness for Christ.
Scripture Reference
Romans 7:16
For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
Action Point
The only way that we can be perfect in the sight of God, is through Jesus Christ. Instead of seeking perfection, seek a relationship with Jesus.
