Thirty Second Devotions

Teach Us To Pray Pt 7 3/4/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | March 04, 2010 18:27

Devotional
God cannot tempt us with evil. God, however will sometimes allow us to be tested, and tried. It is Satan, who will often times lead us astray. This petition would be better translated as Lord, don't let me go down the wrong path, but if I do, help deliver me out of the situation.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:13
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

 Action Point
When you find yourself in the midst of trials and tribulations, remember that there is a way of deliverance. When the flesh has failed you, call on the name of the Lord, and He will bring you through.

Teach Us To Pray Pt 6 3/4/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | March 03, 2010 19:23

Devotional
Lord forgive us where we have failed you and help us to forgive others the way you have forgiven us. When you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your sins are forgiven. We need to model God's love in all that we do. We need to forgive the sins of others as God forgave us.

Scripture Reference

Matthew 6:12
And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

Action Point
Is there someone who you need to forgive? Model the love of Jesus. Forgive them as we have been forgiven.

Teach Us To Pray Pt 5 3/2/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | March 02, 2010 18:54

Devotional
When the Israelites were wandering in the desert, God provided manna each day for them to eat. In the same manner, we are to look to God to provide for our daily needs. This should be a reminder that we need God each and every day.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread.

Action Point
Are you trusting in God to provide your daily needs, or are you trusting in people, jobs, and money? All these other things are not guaranteed, but God will always provide what you need. Give us this day our daily bread. Trust that God will provide.

Teach Us To Pray Pt 4 3/1/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | March 01, 2010 18:55

Devotional
So many times we want things done our way. We want it, and we want it now... When we go to God in prayer, we need to realize that it is not our will that is important. Remember that God hears our prayers, but sometimes the answer is not the one we want.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Action Point
As you pray, seek His will. Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, Mt 26:39b  "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." God doesn't always answer yes. Sometimes it is no, or not yet.

Teach Us To Pray Pt 3 2/28/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | February 28, 2010 19:59

Devotional
Have you ever stopped to think of how holy the name of God is. The Jewish people avoid writing the name of God for fear that it might be defaced. The scribes held the name of God in such high esteem, that they had a special pen that they only used to write God's name. When we pray we are entering the Holiest of all places. He is Holy, Holy, Holy. Lord God almighty.
Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:9
"In this manner, therefore, pray:   Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Action Point
Stop for a second, before the next time you pray. How are you going to approach your Father in heaven? Will you just casually say His name, or will you reverence His name?

Teach Us To Pray Pt 2 2/27/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | February 27, 2010 20:15

Devotional
As Christians, we have direct access to the Father. When the temple veil was torn in two, it signified that the way to the Father had been made. There was no longer a need to have a priest make intercession because the righteous requirement of the law had been fulfilled. We can go directly to Him.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:9
"In this manner, therefore, pray:   Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Action Point
It is because of the cross, and the blood that was shed for us that we can boldly go before the throne of God and call out Abba Father. Spend time with Him in prayer. Go boldly before the throne of God.

Teach Us To Pray Pt 1 2/26/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | February 26, 2010 19:01

Devotional
Prayer is such a simple thing to do, yet many people do not understand prayer. Even the disciples asked Jesus; "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." Jesus then gives them a model prayer. The next week or two we will be taking a look at this prayer.

Scripture Reference
Luke 11:1
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."
Action Point
Prayer is an important part of a close relationship with the Father. If we are to have that close relationship, we need to take time each day to talk to Him. The most important point to learn about prayer, is that we just need to do it.

His Voice 2/25/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | February 25, 2010 19:49

Devotional
I remember as a child, hearing my dad call my name. There was no mistaking who he was talking to. He didn't have to say it twice. He called me by my name. In the same way, the LORD calls us by name, and when your Father is calling your name, you will know it.

Scripture Reference
Isaiah 43:1
But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.

Action Point

The Father is calling you by name. The question is whether you are willing to respond. Whether it be a call to salvation, or a call to serve, He is speaking to you.

Restoration 2/24/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | February 24, 2010 20:18

Devotional
As Christians, and ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ, our goal in ministry should always be restoration. No matter what has happened in the past, the LORD is able to restore. Even the vilest offender who truly believes, that moment from Jesus a pardon receives.
Scripture Reference
Joel 2:25
"So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten,
The crawling locust,
The consuming locust,
And the chewing locust,
My great army which I sent among you.
Action Point
Remember that in order for ministry to be effective, there needs to be restoration. This is God's plan for each of us. It all starts with a restored relationship with the Lord.

Talk To The Mountain 2/23/2010 Devotional

wordinsong | February 23, 2010 20:05

Devotional
As I spoke with a friend today, I was reminded of how weak the flesh is, and how powerful God is. Even though he was facing a mountain, his attitude was positive. We all face trials and tribulations in our lives. When we do, we need to look at the mountain that we are facing, and tell it how big God is.
Scripture Reference
2nd Corinthians 13:4
For though He was crucified in weakness, yet He lives by the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, but we shall live with Him by the power of God toward you.
Action Point
Never underestimate the power of God. Even when you are facing a mountain, remember that we have a God that is bigger.  Live your life not in your weakness, but in the power of a mighty God.
