Thirty Second Devotions

Test Teachers 5/14/2008 Devotionals

wordinsong | May 14, 2008 17:45

Devotional
There are many people who claim to be religious and claim to be Christians. They have many teachings, but we need to be careful. Some of these teachers are out to deceive even God's elect. What they say, sounds good, but it doesn't line up with the Word of God. They will do signs and wonders, but they will not be from God.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 24:24
"For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

Action Point
Study the Bible. Know what the Word of God says. Test what is being taught.

The Gospel Truth 5/13/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 13, 2008 19:06

Devotional
The good news of Jesus can be summed up in these two verses. It is such a simple message, yet most people don't understand it. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins, and that He rose on the third day, the only thing left is to Confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 15:3-4
For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

Action Point
It's the gospel truth. There is no other substitute. Trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior today. Tomorrow may be to late.

Revival 5/12/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 12, 2008 19:20

Devotional
This time of year we see a lot of churches having revivals. Revival needs to start with you and me. Only God can bring true revival. We need to yield our lives to Him. Only when we do that can God work through us. Ezra yielded his life to God, which led to a revival.

Scripture Reference
Ezra 9:5
At the evening sacrifice I arose from my fasting; and having torn my garment and my robe, I fell on my knees and spread out my hands to the LORD my God.

Action Point
Get right before God. Yield your life to Him. Only then, can God use you. Pray for revival in the church, and for the nation.

Happy Mothers Day 5/11/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 11, 2008 18:47

Devotional
Have you ever stopped to consider the worth of a good mother? She is a cook, teacher, nurse, cleaner, counselor, coach, referee, and a chauffeur. If you were to pay for all of these services, you would pay a small fortune. Moms do so much and yet often times we forget to say thank you.

Scripture Reference
Proverbs 31:10
Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

Action Point

Take time today to thank all of the mothers for what they do. Their worth is beyond measure.

Encouragement 5/9/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 09, 2008 18:48

Devotional
Paul often times encouraged a young evangelist named Timothy, in the ministry. We as Christians need encouragement as well. We often times get discouraged, when others attack our faith in Jesus. Paul reminds Timothy of his calling, and of the need to be strong in the faith. Don't let the world drag you down. Be a bold witness for Jesus. God has saved you for a reason.

Scripture Reference
2nd Timothy 1:8-9
Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

Action Point
God has a plan for you. I encourage you to pray, and ask God what He has predestined you to do. Don't let the world tell you what they think. Trust in what God has promised.

Show The Love 5/8/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 08, 2008 18:52

Devotional
A few months ago, I visited a large church in our area. I walked in, and sat at the end of a pew. After the service, I looked at the bulletin, and just stood around waiting for someone to say something to me. Ten minutes went by and nothing. The message was good, but I left thinking that no one cared. I heard the gospel, but it did not effect me because there was no love.

Scripture Reference
1st Corinthians 13:1
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.

Action Point
We need to demonstrate God's love to others. Our actions speak louder than words. If I say I love you, you might believe me. If I show you I love you, there will be no doubt in your mind.

Direct Line To God 5/7/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 07, 2008 19:56

Devotional
It has always amazed me, as to how much God loves us. Even when we were enemies with God, He still loved us enough to send His only son to die for our sins on the cross. It is only through the blood of Jesus that we can go boldly before the throne of God. He was the perfect sacrifice. He was the Lamb of God.

Scripture Reference
Romans 5:10
For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Action Point
As a Christian, we can go boldly before the throne of God. Our sins are washed away by the blood of Jesus. You have a direct line to the Father. Take time today, and talk with Him. He would love to hear from you.

God Will Provide 5/6/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 06, 2008 19:45

Devotional
A widow and her son are about to eat the last bit of food they had left. They had only a hand full of flower and a little oil. The widow had little to offer, but her faith was great. She was obedient, and did according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah. Little is much when God is in it. We simply need to trust and obey.

Scripture Reference
1st Kings 17:15-16
So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which He spoke by Elijah.

Action Point
Is the LORD speaking to you today. Is there something that He wants you to do. Are you thinking you are limited by what you have. Trust God and be obedient. If God is in it, He will provide what is needed.

Think Outside The Box 5/5/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | May 05, 2008 19:36

Devotional
Why is it that we so often put God in a box. We look for Him to do the small miracles, but don't trust Him for bigger and greater things. What would have happened if Billy Graham said I would be happy to just win one soul for Christ. God can do great and mighty works through those who love Him.

Scripture Reference
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Action Point
Think outside the box. God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Be a witness for Jesus. Don't put a limit on what God can do for you, and through you.
