Thirty Second Devotions

Study The Word 4/23/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 23, 2008 19:31

Devotional
There are many people who are preaching false doctrines. We all have had people say "well this is what I believe!" When it comes to the Bible, there is no room for debate. The word of God is true and complete. You can't take verses out of context to make it fit your beliefs.

Scripture Reference
John 7:18
"He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

Action Point
We need to take and examine every doctrine that is preached, or written. Does it line up with what the Bible says, or is it the doctrine of man? Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)

Lead Us Not Into Temptation 4/22/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 23, 2008 02:29

Devotional
God cannot tempt us with evil. God, however will sometimes allow us to be tested, and tried. It is Satan, who will often times lead us astray. This petition would be better translated as Lord, don't let me go down the wrong path, but if I do, help deliver me out of the situation.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:13
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

 Action Point
Are you going down the wrong path? Have you made some wrong decisions? God is able to deliver you from the evil one.

Forgive Us 4/21/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 21, 2008 19:00

Devotional
Lord forgive us where we have failed you and help us to forgive others the way you have forgiven us. When you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your sins are forgiven. We need to model God's love in all that we do. We need to forgive the sins of others as God forgave us.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:12
And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

Action Point
Is there someone who you need to forgive? Model the love of Jesus. Forgive them, as God has forgiven us.

Manna From Heaven 4/20/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 20, 2008 20:01

Devotional
When the Israelites were wandering in the desert, God provided manna each day for them to eat. In the same manner, we are to look to God to provide for our daily needs. This should be a reminder that we need God each and every day.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:11
Give us this day our daily bread.

Action Point
Are you trusting in God to provide your daily needs, or are you trusting in people, jobs, and money? All these other things are not guaranteed, but God will always provide what you need. Give us this day our daily bread. Trust that God will provide.

Not My Will 4/09/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 19, 2008 19:46

Devotional
So many times we want things done our way. We want it, and we want it now... When we go to God in prayer, we need to realize that it is not our will that is important. Remember that God hears our prayers, but sometimes the answer is not the one we want.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:10
Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Action Point
As you pray, seek His will. Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, Mt 26:39b  "O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will." God doesn't always answer yes. Sometimes it is no, or not yet.

The Name Of God 4/18/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 18, 2008 15:23

Devotional
Have you ever stopped to think of how holy the name of God is. The Jewish people avoid writing the name of God for fear that it might be defaced. The scribes held the name of God in such high esteem, that they had a special pen that they only used to write God's name. When we pray we are entering the Holiest of all places. He is Holy, Holy, Holy. Lord God almighty.
Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:9
"In this manner, therefore, pray:   Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Action Point
Stop for a second, before the next time you pray. How are you going to approach your Father in heaven? Will you just casually say His name, or will you reverence His name?

Our Father 4/17/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 17, 2008 19:23

Devotional
We start out the Lord's prayer by acknowledging who God is. He is Our Father in heaven. We are not to take His name lightly. He is in authority, and He loves us. We are His children, and He is our Father. We are to reverence Him, and honor Him.

Scripture Reference
Matthew 6:9
"In this manner, therefore, pray:   Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Action Point
Have you talked to your heavenly Father today? He is longing to hear from you.

Lords Prayer 4/16/08 Devotional

wordinsong | April 16, 2008 19:43

Devotional
Prayer is such a simple thing to do, yet many people do not understand prayer. Even the disciples asked Jesus; "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples." Jesus then gives them a model prayer. The next week or two we will be taking a look at this prayer.

Scripture Reference
Luke 11:1
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples."

Action Point
The most important point to learn about prayer, is that we just need to do it. Take time today to talk to the Father.

True Beauty 4/15/08 Devotional

wordinsong | April 15, 2008 19:48

Devotional
We have all heard the expression, that beauty is only skin deep. True beauty is much more than outward appearance. I have known many people who look great on the outside, but were quite different on the inside. I also know people who don't look the greatest on the outside, but on the inside they are pure gold.

Scripture Reference
1st Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-- rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.

Action Point
Let the true beauty show. Let the love of Jesus show in all that you say and do.

Doers 4/14/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | April 14, 2008 18:07

Devotional
We all know people who go to church on Sunday, and act totally different the other six days. They are acting like saints on Sunday, but acting like sinners the rest of the week. It is one thing to hear the Word of God. It is another to act on it.

Scripture Reference
James 1:23-24
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Action Point
We need to put our faith into action. Be doers of the Word. Let others see Jesus in you.
