Scripture
Matthew 27:3-4
Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was remorseful and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." And they said, "What is that to us? You see to it!"
Devotional
At this point there was no turning back for Judas. Judas was sorry for what He had done, but in his heart, he still rejected Jesus as his Lord. He had betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. The blood of an Innocent man was on his hands.
Action Point
If Judas had received Jesus as his Lord and Savior, then he would have been forgiven. The decision needs to be made this side of eternity. Receive Jesus today.

Scripture
Matthew 27:1-2
When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death. And when they had bound Him, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Devotional
Jesus was first delivered to Caiaphas. Under Roman rule, the Jewish leaders could not sentence Jesus to death. In order for Jesus to be put to death, they had to go before Pontious Pilot. Though the Jewish leaders hated the Romans, their hatred for Jesus was greater.

Scripture
Matthew 26:74-75
Then he began to curse and swear, saying, "I do not know the Man!" Immediately a rooster crowed. And Peter remembered the word of Jesus who had said to him, "Before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." So he went out and wept bitterly.
Devotional
Before restoration can start, there needs to be repentance. Peter had done just what Jesus said he would do. Peter's denial of Jesus was real, but so was Peter's repentance. It was Peters repentance that restored his fellowship with the Lord he loved.
Action Point
Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. This was David's prayer of petition in Psalm 51. This should be our prayer every day.

Scripture
Matthew 26:69-70
Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came to him, saying, "You also were with Jesus of Galilee." But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are saying."
Devotional
As Jesus had said, Peter was denying that he knew Him. The boldest of the disciples was boldly denying Jesus. Peter would however repent of his sin, and be used by God in a mighty way. Even though Peter made mistakes, Jesus still loved him.
Action Point
We all have sinned and fallen short of the mark. If we are Gods children, He will forgive us. He loves us with an unconditional love. Like a father, He is waiting with open arms. Come back to Jesus and see how He can use you.

Scripture
Mark 14:63-64
Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What further need do we have of witnesses? "You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.
Devotional
The high priest appointed by men, rejected the High Priest who is God. Imagine being put to death for being you. This is what the religious leaders did. The ones who should have known the scriptures and known Jesus was the Messiah, where the ones who were sentencing Jesus to death.
Action Point
Don't mix religion with Christianity. Religion is what you do. Christianity is about what has been done.

Scripture
Mark 14:61-62
But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" Jesus said, "I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven."
Devotional
Jesus had been falsely accused of blasphemy. Jesus answered nothing. Now the question is "Are You the Christ." Jesus said "I am." There is a lot in those two tiny words. Jesus was not just saying that He was the Christ. He was also saying that He was God. In Exodus 3:14 God said "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' "
Action Point
Jesus said that if you know Me, then you know the Father. Place your trust in the Lord.

Scripture
Matthew 26:60b-61
Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward and said, "This fellow said, 'I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.' "
Devotional
Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." (John 2:19) The devil has a way of twisting words around. The temple Jesus was referring to was His body. They may hang Jesus on a cruel Roman cross, but in three days He will Rise again.
Action Point
Do not take scripture out of context. Many people will take scripture and quote it out of context. This can give the words a whole different meaning.

Scripture
Matthew 26:53-54
"Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, and He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? "How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?"
Devotional
Peter had drawn his sword and cut off the ear of one of the soldiers. Jesus didn't need Peters sword to protect Him. Jesus had the power to call on the angels (up to 72,000) to protect Him, and deliver Him. We see again the submission that Jesus had to the Father. Jesus was obedient even to the point of death on the cross. The scriptures had to be fulfilled.
Action Point
Let Gods will be done in your life. Things have been set in motion. See how God will use you.

Scripture
John 18:4-5
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that would come upon Him, went forward and said to them, "Whom are you seeking?" They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." Jesus said to them, "I am He." And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.
Devotional
Whom are you seeking? This was the question Jesus asked. Some people are seeking a teacher. Some are seeking a religious leader. Some are seeking a miracle worker, and some are seeking a healer. We need to be seeking after the Savior. It is one thing to know about Jesus, but another to know Jesus. Judas knew about Jesus, but did not have a relationship with Him.
Action Point
Make it a priority in your life to have a relationship with Jesus. Get to know Him. Talk to Him, and spend time in the Word.
