Thirty Second Devotions

2/11/08 Devotional Beyond Evangelism

wordinsong | February 11, 2008 20:06

Scripture
Matthew 13:23
"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

Devotional
Jesus is finishing explaining the parable of the sower and the seed. Often times new Christians start out in poor soil. It is our responsibility to transplant and till the soil to make it fertile. Once they receive Jesus, we need to come along side them and disciples them.

Action Point
Go further than evangelism. Make disciples.

2/10/08 Devotional Repent Refresh

wordinsong | February 10, 2008 19:56

Scripture
Acts 3:19
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Devotional

When we repent we are changed. We turn away from sin, and turn towards the Lord. When we turn to Jesus our sins are forgiven as far as the east is from the west. In Psalm 51:10 David says "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." This is the same type of refreshing this scripture speaks of.

Action Point
Turn from sin, and towards God. Your life will be changed.

2/9/08 Devotional God Has A Plan

wordinsong | February 09, 2008 18:32

Scripture
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Devotional
It is often times hard to see God at work when things are not going well. As believers, we can be assured that God is still in control. Joseph was the perfect example. His brothers sold him into slavery, but through several adversities, Joseph ended up in the second highest position in Egypt.
Action Point
Trust God in the difficult situations. God has a plan. See what He has in store for you.

2/8/08 Devotional Nothing But The Blood

wordinsong | February 08, 2008 20:15

Scripture
Genesis 4:4
Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel and his offering,
Devotional
We see in this scripture a picture of Jesus. Abel offered a blood sacrifice which was acceptable to God. Cain also offered a sacrifice, but the fruits of his labor were not acceptable to God. Only the blood of the Lamb could wash away our sins.
Action Point
Do not try to please God with your works. Trust in the blood. What can wash away my sins; Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again; Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2/7/08 Devotional Faith In Dificult Times

wordinsong | February 07, 2008 19:10

Scripture
Philippians 1:12
But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,
Devotional
Paul is writing from a prison cell. Often times the greatest testimony of our faith comes when we are going through trials and tribulation. It is easy to follow Jesus when times are good, but the true reflection of our faith comes in the hard times.

Action Point
Let your love for Jesus show in the hard times. Your actions may lead others to Christ.

2/6/08 Devotional Do Not Be Afraid

wordinsong | February 06, 2008 18:57

Scripture
Joshua 1:9
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Devotional
God is with you wherever you are. You can be in the depths of the earth, and God is there. You can be on the highest mountain and God will still be there. He is there in good times and bed, and He will protect us and guide us in every place and situation.
Action Point
Do not be afraid or dismayed. God is with you.

2/5/08 Devotional Be Still

wordinsong | February 05, 2008 19:30

Scripture
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!
Devotional
One of the hardest things to do is to be still. We often ask God for things, and want them right away. Gods timing is not our timing. Wait on the Lord, and He will do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
Action Point
Wait on the Lord. PUSH Pray Until Something Happens

2/4/08 Devotional Looking For You

wordinsong | February 04, 2008 19:41

Scripture
Ezekiel 34:11
'For thus says the Lord GOD: "Indeed I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.
Devotional
God is seeking those who beleive, and love Him. Even when we are not seeking Him, He is seeking us.  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.(John 3:16)
Action Point
Seek God. He is looking for you.

2/3/08 Devotional Be An Open Book

wordinsong | February 03, 2008 18:52

Scripture
Ephesians 5:1-2
Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
Devotional
We are the only Bible some people ever read. We are ambassadors on earth for Christ. What people see us doing says more than what we say. What will they see when they see you? Is there enough evidence to convict you of being a Christian?
Action Point
Live a life that reflects Christ. Be an open book for people to read.

1/31/08 Devotional Is Jesus In You

wordinsong | January 31, 2008 20:00

Scripture
Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Devotional
We need to die to the flesh daily, and let Christ dwell in us. The greatest compliment that I have ever been given , was by a lady in a nursing home, when she said "I can see Jesus in you." My prayer for each and every person who reads these devotionals, is that people can see Jesus in you.
Action Point
Let the love of Jesus shine in all that you do.
