Thirty Second Devotions

Light Up The Dark 10/23/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | October 23, 2008 18:57

Devotional
This time of year a lot of people turn to telling ghost stories, and watching scary movies. As Christians, we need to guard our hearts and minds against such things. Instead focus on things that bring glory to God.

Scripture Reference
Ephesians 5:11
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Action Point
Halloween can be a great time to witness to others. It can also be a time of year that the devil tries to gain a foothold. Let your light shine in the dark places. Don't give the devil any wiggle room. Encourage people to go to church fall festivals, or give out gospel tracks with the candy.

Who Then Can Be Saved? 10/22/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | October 22, 2008 19:22

Devotional
The question for today is "Who then can be saved?" Jesus says in John 3:15 "that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. It is with a child like faith that we are to believe. It is only through faith that we are saved. Without faith we are lost.

Scripture Reference
Mark 10:26
And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, "Who then can be saved?"

Action Point
The message is simple, yet few chose to believe. It is a free gift, yet few receive it because they do not believe. To learn more about receiving the free gift of salvation, go to http://wordinsongmusic.org/newlife.html

wordinsong | October 21, 2008 19:02

Everything that we do as Christians should be a reflection of God, and His love towards us. One of the greatest compliments I ever received was from a 90 year old woman at a nursing home who told me she could see Jesus in me.

Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

Action Point
Can people see the Jesus in you? Are you reflecting His love in all that you do? If you are living for Jesus, then people will know. They will see His light shining in, and through you.

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Church Growth 10/18/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | October 18, 2008 19:06

Devotional
Why is it, that we spend so much time on developing programs, and ways of drawing people in to the church. the early church grew, because they were steady, and unchanging. Today we have over 30,000 different Christian denominations, each with their own beliefs.

Scripture Reference
Acts 2:42
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Action Point
Stay in the Word. Stay true to the teachings of Jesus. Follow His road map for church growth. If we continue in prayer, fellowship, and firm doctrine, the church will grow.

Spiritual Armor 10/17/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | October 17, 2008 20:11

Devotional
Are you ready for battle? As Christians, we need to be prepared. We are not fighting a physical battle, but a spiritual battle. We need to have on the whole armor of God. If one piece is missing, we become vulnerable.

Scripture Reference
Ephesians 6:13
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Action Point
Put on each piece of spiritual armor on with care. If there is a week spot in the armor, the enemy will find it. Be strong in the Lord. Don't give the devil a foothold.

Prayer or Question 10/16/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | October 16, 2008 19:24

Devotional
We need to go boldly before God with our prayers, believing that He will answer them. If we think He might, then we are not putting our trust in Him. We are just simply asking a question.

Scripture Reference
James 1:6
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.

Action Point
Place your trust in the God who can and will. We often times limit God by our disbelief. Believe that God will do what He says He will do.

Brothers and Sisters 10/14/2008 Devotional

wordinsong | October 14, 2008 18:25

As believers, we are part of a very large family. I have brothers and sisters all around the world. They are not related by genealogy, but by the blood that was shed on Calvary. They are my brothers, and sisters in Christ Jesus.

Scripture Reference
Mark 3:35
"For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother."

Action Point
We are all one family, bound by the blood of Jesus. We all have a heavenly Father who loves His children. As children, we need to express our love for Him as well. Call your heavenly Father today. He is always waiting to hear from His children.
